Scott looking for a place to land

The Rocky Mountain News reports the Broncos and Vikings have interest in free agent DeQuincy Scott, however Scott’s agent still is negotiating a return to San Diego.

The Broncos also have made overtures to DeQuincy Scott, a 6-foot-1, 260-pound defensive end who has played all four of his pro seasons with the San Diego Chargers. Scott was set to visit the Broncos next week before Lang was signed.

Scott, 28, has had some of his best games against Denver in his career since joining the league as an undrafted free agent out of Southern Mississippi. His first sack came against the Broncos in 2002. He took down the Broncos’ Jake Plummer in September while also tipping a pass that turned into an interception during the Chargers’ loss at Invesco Field at Mile High.

According to Scott’s agent, Dr. Da-I Ping, Scott still is negotiating a possible return to San Diego and might visit the Minnesota Vikings, along with one other team he declined to name. Those probably will be the only visits Scott makes, Ping said.

The Broncos were expected to try to finalize Scott’s visit today. No substantive talks have occurred between the two sides.

Scott has 14.5 sacks in his 56-game career, including 6.5 in 2003, playing mainly in a part-time.
